What is Coronavirus
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Coronavirus are a family of viruses that can cause illnesses such as the common cold, severe acute respiratory syndrome.
Mode of Transmission
The COVID-19 virus spread primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when infected person cough or sneezes.
Symptoms of Coronavirus
People with COVID-19 have has a wide range of symptoms reported, ranging from mid symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19. The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:
Fever or chills with high temperature
Anew continuous Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing.
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss and change of your sense taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhoea
This list does not include all possible symptoms. Symptoms are varying to every individual. Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.
Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. If someone is showing any these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately.
Trouble breathing
Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
New confusion
Inability to wake or stay awake
Bluish lips and face
What to do if you have symptoms
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus. To help stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), avoid close contact with anyone you do not live with and wash your hands regularly.
1, Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
2, Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result.
3, Try to at least 2 metres (3 steps) away from anyone.
4, Wash your hands with soap and water often, do this for at least 20 second handwashing.
5, Use hand sanitiser gel.
6, Wash your hands as soon as you get home.
7, Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue paper when you cough and sneeze
8, Put used tissue in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.
9, Wear mask and something which cover your mouth and nose when its hard to stay away from people, such as in shop and public.
10, Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.
11, For protection against COVID-19, following hygiene rules is key. It is also important to get enough sleep and avoid smoking.
Follow the government’s social distancing guidance about what you can and can not do outside your home.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how to it spread. Protect yourself and other from infection by washing your hands, using an alcohol-based sanitizer rub frequently and not touching your face.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment .Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease ,and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
Treatment:
Currently, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. Antibiotics do not help, as they do not work against viruses. Other symptomatic treatment usually aims to relieve the symptoms while your body fights the illness. WHO will continue to provide update information as soon as clinical finding become available? You can usually treat mild coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms at home. If symptoms are severe may need medical care.
