LHC dismisses petition seeking cancellation of Ishaq Dar’s nomination

LAHORE: The hearing of the case, against the approval of nomination papers of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Senate elections, is going on in Lahore High Court.
The bench consisting of Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and Justice Jawad Hassan is hearing the appeal of Nawab Shah Nawazish Ali.
The respondent on the petition claiming that an absconder cannot take part in elections said that the petitioner should argue on the base of law rather than giving political comments.
The petitioner further argued that since Ishaq Dar was an absconder in NAB references, his appeal for the approval of entry in elections should be nullified.
The judges set aside the case terming it as inadmissible because apparently the concerned party was also entering the elections. Sulaiman Aslam Butt, the respondent, also argued that this case was inadmissible because the petition had not been filed to the returning officer.
The petition can be filed again to the election tribunal after the elections, declared the court on the request of Advocate Nawazish Ali.
