LAHORE: A large number of visitors lauded the performance of renowned Sufi artists at the 16th Sufi Music Festival being held at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Eminent singers and musicians amused the jammed-packed hall with instrumental and classical performances besides the Sufi poetry in their melodious voices. The event was organised by Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop. A total of 29 musical groups from across the country with more than 400 artistes, performed.
The Sufi poetry disseminates the message of peace and cohesion, besides strengthening bonds among people.
The three-day festival featured performers, singers and musicians from all corners of the country. Organised by the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop, the festival showcased Sufi poetry through various art forms to promote peace and co-existence.
According to the festival organizers, around 30 singers performed during the festival.
The event was attended by renowned Sufi-musicians, singers and performers. Prominent performers included Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Humaira Channa, Arif Lohar, Baddar Qawal, Faiz Chisti, Muneer Chisti, Bushra Marvi, Maham Sohail, Sheema Kirmani, Nighat Chaudhry, Ustad Rafaqat Ali Khan, Krishan Lal, Sain Zahoor, Sanam Marvi, Javeed Bashir, Sabir Sain, Gonga Sain, Methoo Sain, Taj Balidi, Pappu Sain, Nawab Khan, Shaukat Ali, Farid Ayaz Abu Muhammad, Nawab Akhtar Zahri presented their famous mystic songs at the festival.
Sharing their sentiments, the audience said that such festivals should be conducted frequently as they were a good source of mental and spiritual tranquility. A large number of people from various walks of life attended the Sufi Music Festival.
