Trump questions why Obama administration is not subject of Russia investigation

WASHINGTON – President Trump just can’t quit trying to link his predecessor Barack Obama to the Russia investigation.
In a Wednesday morning tweet, he questioned why the Obama administration was not under investigation – and strongly suggested his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, look into the matter.
“Question: If all of the Russian meddling took place during the Obama Administration, right up to January 20th, why aren’t they the subject of the investigation?” Trump tweeted Wednesday. “Why didn’t Obama do something about the meddling? Why aren’t Dem crimes under investigation? Ask Jeff Session (sic)!”

The FBI during the Obama administration did begin investigating Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 election through email hacks and pushing fake news on social media. Obama also slapped new sanctions on Moscow over its U.S. election activity.
A special counsel is now investigating Russia’s election meddling and possible collusion with Trump associates, in addition to whether the president obstructed the investigation.
Trump has raised similar issues about the preceding administration every day since Special Counsel Robert Mueller reported indictments of 13 individuals and three businesses in connection with Russian election activity.
In an initial tweet, Trump misspelled the name of his own attorney general, Jeff Sessions; he later sent a follow-up post correcting the error.
