Bilawal slams PML-N decision to appoint Shehbaz as party head

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday criticised Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for electing a ‘controversial’ figure as party head.
Speaking to the media, Bilawal said that PML-N has elected a ‘controversial’ figure in Shehbaz Sharif, who is accused of corruption in Ashiana Housing scandal and Metro projects, as party frontman.
The PPP co-chief also dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and PML-N’s claims of winning 2018 general elections in Karachi saying that the masses only want PPP government.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday was appointed interim president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
PML-N Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting chaired by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, agreed on instating Shehbaz as the acting head of the Nawaz league. It was further announced that Nawaz is to be party president ‘for life’.
According to Maryam Nawaz, PML-N leaders Raja Zafarul Haq, PM Abbasi and Shehbaz Sharif proposed that Nawaz be elected as party Quaid for a lifetime, which was resoundingly approved by the meeting attendees.
