WASHINGTON: White House staff secretary Rob Porter said on Wednesday he would resign following accusations of domestic abuse from two former wives.
He did not say when his resignation would be effective. Porter, a senior adviser who is in charge of much of the documentation that goes to President Donald Trump for his signature, announced his resignation in a statement after his former wives made accusations against him in published reports.
Colbie Holderness reportedly accused that Porter choked and punched her during their marriage. Jennifer Willoughby said that Porter was abusive.
These outrageous allegations are simply false,” Porter said in a statement released by the White House.
“I have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims, but I will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign.
“Porter said he would “seek to ensure a smooth transition when I leave the White House.
